Self-custody checklist

One screen. Not a ritual, not financial advice. The long version is the self-custody guide.

• An exchange balance is a claim, not the coins.
• Buy bitcoin on Strike, the only place this site trusts. Not an affiliate link.
• Buy a hardware wallet from the maker. Official Blockstream Jade store. Not a marketplace, not used.
• Verify the device with Blockstream’s own docs. Skip random unlock videos.
• Initialize on the device. Write the 12 or 24 words on paper or steel while looking at the device screen.
• Never type, photo, screenshot, cloud-note, or email the seed. Never give it to “support”.
• Confirm receive addresses on the device screen, not only in an app.
• Test with a small amount first. Wait. Then the rest.
• Keep a second backup somewhere that cannot burn or flood with the first.
• Lose the backup, lose the coins. No helpdesk reprints them.
